So you don't find me I'm going M.I.A.
Tonight I'm leaving going M.I.A.
Say good-bye to me I'm going M.I.A.--
Foo Fighters, M.I.A.

Hello! Well I'm getting on the plane to the UK tomorrow to kick off my Euro adventure. I've been packing for a few days, little by little, so there was no mad rush to get it done. I should think about attempting that with my homework sometime.

So today was really no different that any other day in the past month. Woke up around 9:30 or 10am, tall glass of o.j., read the newspaper, turn on dmb, hang in my room, casually get things together all day, pasta for lunch, two eggs for a midday snack, shower, relax, dinner, relax more, turn off dmb, conan, bed.

I've been talking to a bunch of other friends who have already left for their study abroad destinations (such as Cork, Ireland; Perugia, Italy; Genev
a, Switzerland; Bath, England; Perth, Australia) and I am eager to start experiencing my own travels! It's safe to say that as I sit here now on the night before my trip begins, I am 80% excited and 20% nervous. I've been told that is a normal combo...

With this comes the official end of summer 2006. It ended with a bang - a seap
lane fly-in way up in Greenville, Maine on Moosehead Lake (where I happened to score a lesson in a floatplane...I am now hooked on float flying!). It was a great weekend, we camped by the plane (yes, I know what you're thinking, my plane can only land in the water once..the fly-in was also at the main town airport..see pictures link to the right). After two nights sleeping on the ground in chilly Maine, we flew down to Burlington so I could spend one last night with my buddies who have elected to stay at school this semester. It was a fun, relaxing night. The flight down to Burlington was a scenic one! Weaving through the White Mountains and then the Green Mountains, under a broken cloud deck at 6,000ft. Cruising at 5,500ft, Mount Washington sat to our left like an ominous, ever-present beast with it's peak lurking in the clouds. Overflying Smugglers Notch was fun, looking down on the green trails recalling many good times with good friends there.

Tomorrow, the plan is to be out of the house by noon, stop at the Hyannis airport to pick up my last paycheck (good timing), go to the bank, pick up my euros and pound (buying those was like watching my cash vaporize into thin air with the exchange rate today), and head north to the airport, with a few visits on the way. Wish me luck...tomorrow this time I will be sitting on a Boeing 747-400! See you later, see you soon.

I cant believe youre actually going! You're going to have an insane time. I agree with the exchange rate being a bit ridiculous. but hey, its just money :o) its cool that you got to do that floater plane shit. they always offer rides right before the rickenbacker causeway. ive been too scared to do it cuz they crashed once. everything here is great. its been rainy the past few days which is nice because when its not, its SOOOOOO freaking hot and humid. i hope you get there safe and found something entertaining to do on the plane ride there and that your butt didnt fall alseep. GOOD LUCK! xo

What day did you fly by Smuggs? If it was Sunday afternoon, we saw you cruise by from the back deck of the house!

Hope you had a safe hop across the pond...

George
